HOUSTON, TX -- On Saturday, June 18, Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) provided food for nearly 600 families at its community food give-away.

More than 60 volunteers showed up to assist with the drive-thru distribution which began at 8 a.m. and was open to the public on a first come, first served basis. Each family received about 90 lbs. of fresh produce.

With inflation causing the costs of even the most basic needs such as food to sky-rocket, many families are struggling. “Their paychecks aren’t going as far and they need help,” said NAM’s Chief Advancement Officer, Brian Carr. “And that’s what we’re here for.”

Northwest Assistance Ministries is a non-profit, community-based social service agency that strives to meet basic human needs through Neighbors Helping Neighbors. NAM provides assistance in areas such as food, shelter, health, education and domestic violence awareness and intervention. During its last fiscal year, NAM touched the lives of more than 136,000 people through its many programs and services.
